These rice terraces in Bali are mesmerizing. The pride and labor that goes into shaping, maintaining and working these rice paddies is an impressive example of the human spirit.

A Unique Perspective on the Sept 11th Memorial Lights
13 09 2010Each Sept 11th in NYC we are reminded of those lost on 9/11/01 with a mesmerizing memorial of twin blue lights to represent the twin towers. The lights are actually not two single lights but rather a series of 40 xenon lights that create the two rectangular shapes. It’s beautiful.
I wanted to create from the base of these lights where you can see the individual light beams that make up each of the shapes. This is a pretty unique perspective.
My thoughts go out to the families of all who were lost that day.

September 11th Tribute in HDR
12 09 2010September 11th is always a somber reminder of the times we live in. The memorial lights can be seen from anywhere in NYC. My thoughts go out to the families and friends of all the victims. Hoping that at some point in my lifetime the world will be a better place.

Water Like Silk
8 08 2010This was my first attempt at HDR with a super long exposure during the day to create the silk-like water effect. Right in back of where I am standing is about a thousand foot drop off the real falls. That picture to follow…

An Earthly Event That Can Be Seen From Space
24 07 2010They say that the South African Sardine Run is such a massive event that it can be viewed from space. Well, while at the Sardine Run this year, I pointed my camera in the other direction. Apparently the sky is also so clear that you can see space from the Sardine Run!

Day 39 of 365: When In Doubt, Shoot a Church
10 02 2010Had no time to shoot today, starting to get desperate to keep the 365 project going. Can’t go wrong shooting a church. So I decided to play around with the high ISO on the D3s. – I found a dark church to shoot to challenge myself. For the geeks like me who care, this is ISO 25,600. The image came out very two dimensional to me, but hey, it’s an image for today and saves me from not fulfilling the project today…
